Visual Proportion Guide

A well-proportioned poster typically fills 60–75% of the available wall width. Here's a quick reference:

  • 8 × 12 — roughly the size of a sheet of paper; ideal for small, intimate spaces or as part of a group arrangement.
  • 12 × 18 — about the size of a magazine spread; works well as a standalone piece in compact rooms.
  • 16 × 24 — a substantial print visible from across the room; suits most standard bedroom and living room walls.
  • 24 × 36 — a true statement piece; commands attention on large, open walls and high-ceilinged spaces.

Room Placement Tips

Living Room

Hang the center of your poster at eye level — approximately 57–60 inches from the floor. For a sofa wall, choose a poster that is no wider than the sofa itself. The 16 × 24 or 24 × 36 works best here.

Bedroom

Above the bed, leave 6–8 inches of space between the top of the headboard and the bottom of the frame. A 12 × 18 or 16 × 24 fits most standard double and queen beds.

Home Office

Keep it balanced with your desk setup. An 8 × 12 or 12 × 18 placed at seated eye level adds personality without overwhelming a compact workspace.

Hallway

Narrow corridors suit vertical orientations. A 12 × 18 works well in most hallways, while a 16 × 24 suits wider entryways.

Gallery Wall

Mix sizes for visual interest. Start with a 16 × 24 or 24 × 36 as the anchor, then layer in 8 × 12 and 12 × 18 prints around it. Keep consistent spacing of 2–3 inches between frames.
